Coupon eligibility, caps and final total

Read the selected coupon’s eligible product, region, booking period, travel/stay dates, minimum spend and discount cap together. A campaign maximum is not a benefit for every booking. Compare the actual total after the coupon under identical conditions.

Lowest-price comparison checklist

  • Whether the room, breakfast, and cancellation terms are the same
  • Whether taxes and service fees are included from the outset
  • The difference in card costs between paying in Korean won and paying in the local currency
  • Whether the free-cancellation deadline is based on the property's local time
  • Whether the coupon and coins are returned when a coupon-booking reservation is canceled

Match the room conditions

Match dates, guests, room size, bed, breakfast and cancellation terms before comparing prices. A cheaper option with different conditions is not an equivalent-price comparison.

Calculate the stay’s total

Add only mandatory taxes and property charges not already included, then subtract the coupon actually applied. Future rewards are separate. The examples below are assumptions, not observed Trip.com or Agoda selling prices.

Price flexibility separately

Compare the extra cost of a cancelable room with the possible loss on a non-refundable booking. Neither option is always preferable; supplier and room-specific restrictions govern.

Compare cash refunds separately from the amount you still bear

These are Dassago’s hypothetical calculations, not actual room quotes or a refund test. Match the room, dates, guests, breakfast and tax basis. Assume A is a non-refundable KRW 200,000 prepayment and B a conditionally cancellable KRW 215,000 prepayment. Both are already paid, with no extra costs.

After prepayment: cash refund / remaining outlay by outcome · KRW
Outcome and refund assumptionA · refund / remaining outlayB · refund / remaining outlay
Stay as planned · outlay pays for the stay0 KRW / 200,000 KRW0 KRW / 215,000 KRW
Cancel before deadline · assume full B refund0 KRW / 200,000 KRW215,000 KRW / 0 KRW
Cancel · assume 50% B refund0 KRW / 200,000 KRW107,500 KRW / 107,500 KRW
Late cancellation or no-show · assume no B refund0 KRW / 200,000 KRW0 KRW / 215,000 KRW

Remaining outlay = actual prepayment − net cash refund + additional costs not already counted. If fees were deducted from the refund, do not add them again. In the completed-stay row, the outlay buys accommodation; it is not a cancellation loss.

The extra KRW 15,000 for B buys cancellation flexibility. If a full refund is actually allowed before the deadline, it can avoid the KRW 200,000 lost under A. With no refund after the deadline, B instead leaves KRW 15,000 more outlay. The 50% refund is an example, not a hotel policy.

Check the actual cancellation deadline, stated time zone, completed request time, late penalties, no-show and partial-stay rules, and net refund. Record coupon and Trip Coins returns separately from cash. An unknown refund is neither zero nor a full refund. Distinguish pay-at-property, deposits and preauthorizations from actual charges.

Reuse the existing same-conditions total-cost tool to align the room, tax and mandatory costs. Because A and B have different cancellation terms, keep its like-for-like lowest-price decision withheld and assess these scenarios separately. If billing and card-settlement currencies differ, record the actual settled refund and separate fees too.

Cancellation clauses partially reviewed: 2026-11-01. The official general terms direct users to the hotel-specific cancellation, refund and fee conditions shown during booking. The figures and refund rates above are not official benefits or evidence of a successful refund or processing time for a particular booking.

Same-conditions total-cost comparison

Four hypothetical hotel outcomes compare cash refunds with payment remaining after prepayment. A costs KRW 200,000 and is non-refundable; B costs KRW 215,000 with assumed full, partial or zero refunds. Staying as planned is an accommodation cost, not a cancellation loss.
Dassago hypothetical calculations, not actual room quotes, hotel policy or a refund test. Full, 50% and zero refunds are scenario assumptions. Use the actual net cash refund and do not count deducted fees twice; deadline, time zone, coupon or Trip Coins returns, and deposits or preauthorizations require separate checks.

Read all three dates

Distinguish booking deadline, stay dates and free-cancellation deadline. Use the time zone stated in the booking confirmation; do not assume midnight or the phone’s time zone.

Keep a comparable record

Record the room, inclusions, final total, mandatory local charges, applied coupon, cancellation terms and observation time. Prices change; an old screenshot does not establish today’s price.

Trip.com payment and hotel clauses were partially reviewed on 2026-10-25. Room-specific conditions and some non-changeable or non-refundable rates still govern. This is not a fresh verification of every hotel price.

Hypothetical calculations, in KRW: 200,000 + 20,000 + 10,000 − 13,000 = 217,000; a matched all-inclusive option at 215,000 is 2,000 lower in that example. Alternatively, A: 220,000 + 20,000 − 10,000 = 230,000 versus matched B at 235,000, a 5,000 difference. These are not live platform prices. A 15,000 flexibility premium must be weighed against potential cancellation loss.
